Fears over extent of injury to Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender after win against Alloa Athletic
INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle are waiting to hear the extent of Jake Davidson’s injury after he had to be taken off by wheelchair on Saturday afternoon.
Davidson pulled up after challenging for the ball with Alloa goalkeeper Peter Morrison and was unable to continue the game.
Head coach Scott Kellacher says they are waiting for reports on Davidson and says it will be a blow to lose him from action.
Kellacher said: “It looks like it is a sore one and he is being assessed, we have to wait and see how that goes.
“I am absolutely gutted as he has worked so hard. He is a great lad who gives everything that he has got. We have to wait to hear what the physio says as we need a report on him.
“But I hope he is OK for his sake and our sake.”
Midfielder Keith Bray, who scored in Caley Thistle’s 2-1 win over Cove Rangers last weekend, was missing from the squad today after injuring his shoulder in training during midweek.
Kellacher says they are also waiting to find out how long he will be missing from action.
He said: “This week we will see how he goes once the swelling goes down and whether he needs a scan.
“Over the next week we will find out.
“He got a knock in training on his shoulder and it has swollen up.
“Once the swelling goes down we will see what the way forward will be for him. It is a shame as he was terrific for us last week against Cove Rangers.
“He is a big addition to the squad when he is fit.”
Inverness reduced the gap at the bottom of the table to 10 points following their 1-0 win over Alloa Athletic with Charlie Gilmour scoring the winner in the second half.
Inverness are now on four points, with Annan Athletic dropping to ninth following their 2-0 defeat to Kelty Hearts.
Kellacher was pleased with their overall performance against a team who were top of the league until today.
“They stood up and were counted and did what we asked of them.
“We were good in possession and created chances, but we need to take those chances
“But the boys know that and games will be more comfortable if we do.
“In terms of their workrate, on the ball, keeping it, passing it and getting the ball back.
“We knew at one point in the game other teams will have a bit of possession, so it is important we get back behind the ball and get our shape.
“I thought the second half we started well and got the goal.
“I was delighted for Charlie who was out for a while, he looked strong and controlled middle of the park.
“I can’t fault anyone, from Billy Mckay up top to Musa Dibaga in goals, they worked so hard. That is what we are going to do with every game that we have.”
