Former Inverness Caley Thistle defender Cameron Harper drops out of English Football League after Carlisle United’s relegation from League Two confirmed
Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Cameron Harper has suffered relegation from the English Football League.
The 23-year-old left the Highland capital last summer after more than a decade with Caley Thistle, moving to Carlisle United on a free transfer when his contract expired.
There, the Caley Jags academy graduate linked up with the likes of former Celtic, Hibernian and Aberdeen midfielder Dylan McGeouch.
At the time he spoke of his desire to test himself south of the border and push himself to new heights, and he has been a regular in Carlisle’s team this season having made 38 appearances across all competitions.
However, it has not been a strong season for Carlisle as they struggled near the bottom of League Two.
Yesterday, their relegation out of the EFL was confirmed with a 3-2 defeat away at Cheltenham Town.
Carlisle went into the day five points behind Tranmere Rovers with two games to play, but as it turned out Carlisle’s result was a moot point as Tranmere secured a 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra.
