Inverness Harriers life member Kirsty Law is now just one 56m discus throw away from the European Championships in Berlin next month after a silver medal performance last Sunday at the British Championships.

Law threw the 1kg implement for a season’s best of 54.64m to take the silver medal, giving her one of two automatic Great Britain team spots – subject to throwing the qualifying distance of 56m by July 23.

Before then, Law has four competitions, each offering six attempts to find the extra 1.36m she needs to reach the standard required to confirm selection.
