English amateur golfer is on top at Nairn Dunbar Ladies Open

AN English amateur golfer claimed victory at the Nairn Dunbar Ladies Open for the first time in her career.

Essex golfer Ashley Croft came out on top to lift the trophy last weekend.

The 21-year-old was on a short trip back in the UK from her studies as a student at North Arizona University and made the journey north to compete at the tournament.

She recorded a score of 75 to win the scratch category.

She beat Eleanor Tunn from Reay Golf Club in second place with Karen Marshall of Baberton Golf Club claiming third place.

Sonya Andrews of Playsport Golf Club claimed victory in the Silver Handicap Competition.

Chrissie Hassie of Dunblane Golf Club took top spot in the Bronze Handicap Quaich.
