Duncan Ferguson: ‘We want the fans through the door’ as Inverness Caley Thistle prepare to take on Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic
MANAGER Duncan Ferguson says Inverness Caledonian Thistle want to see fans come to support them for their first home match this season.
Caley Thistle are set to take on Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic in the Premier Sports Cup group stage at the Caledonian Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
Some fans have spoken about boycotting matches this season due to the current predicament the club find itself in and unhappy with the way that it is being run.
Ferguson says his team want supporters to come and see them this season.
But he does not like calls for fans to not attend matches this campaign.
He said: "We want the fans through the door, but if fans don't want to come, don't come.
"But why encourage other people not to come? I don't get that.
"We want you here. Why influence other people not to come? I don't like that part.
"I don't know what the problem is, to be honest, but we want the fans here.
"I am sure the young players want that too.”
Inverness Caledonian Thistle said it was involved in talks with interested parties about taking over the club as attempts to find investment to avoid possible administration.
Earlier this month, it was revealed Inverness made a loss of over £588,000 in the financial year ending May 30, 2023.
Ferguson said: "The talks are going well. They are getting closer and closer to striking a deal.
"It's not signed off yet, so it's not yet done.
"I think it's positive and the club is getting closer to getting a new owner in.
He said: "The club have investors coming in. I have never met them and don't know who they are.
"I have no real idea what's going to happen.
"Hopefully they come in and I can get money for my budget.”
"I am hoping it will happen this month. That's what the club are looking at.
"These things can drag on, and that's the way it is.
"From what I'm hearing, everything is positive.
"Hopefully it gets done the sooner the better.”
Meanwhile the future of defender Nikola Ujdur could be decided by the end of this week.
The Australian is in negotiations to leave the club with Queen’s Park believed to be set to capture his signature.
Ferguson said: “Niko's transfer is still going through. We wanted it done, but it is still going through the process with a visa.
"All the paperwork is in and we're just waiting to get the nod. I have interest in senior players left in my squad, but I can't allow any to go. We will be keeping them.”
