Duncan Ferguson interested in bringing Spanish trialist permanently to Inverness Caley Thistle
MANAGER Duncan Ferguson says he is interested in bringing in a new goalkeeper who featured as a trialist for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the 1-1 draw against Dumbarton on Saturday.
Caley Thistle have been giving a trial to Spanish goalkeeper Musa Dibaga, who was an unused substitute in the draw with Dumbarton at the Caledonian Stadium.
The 24-year-old Spaniard, who was playing with Lowland League outfit Bo’Ness United last season, featured in the squad on Saturday afternoon.
Ferguson says he likes what he has seen from Dibaga, but says any deal will be dependent on funds becoming available.
He said: “We like him. I am worried if I put a young kid on the bench and if our goalkeeper gets injured right away that we need an older player on the bench.
“There is potentially a move there if we can free up funds.
“But it is all about the funds. The squad is young and we will wait to see if we can get any funds to bolster it.”
Danny Devine gave Inverness the lead on the stroke of half time before Carlo Pignatiello equalised for Dumbarton.
Ferguson was disappointed they could not hold on to their lead.
“In the first half we were absolutely dominant, had all the chances and the possession. We got our noses in front in the first half.
“We had about 70 per cent possession in the first half and couldn’t get the second goal.
In the second half we never started, we couldn’t get the second goal which would have been crucial for us. They changed their shape and caused us some problems up into midfield and went to a back five. We switch off from a set play. Our goalkeeper makes a great save, other that we had two or three chances.
“You are always disappointed when you are 1-0 up.”
