Dramatic Scottish Cup triumph is highlight of Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Tremarco's career

For many players, having a cup winners’ medal is the highlight of their careers.

Carl Tremarco is no different, but his path to lifting the Scottish Cup trophy nearly five years ago did not come without its fair share of drama.

Caley Thistle were 1–0 up but under pressure when the Liverpudlian full back was shown a red card with 15 minutes left on the clock.

So instead of being on the pitch with his teammates, he was forced to watch from the dressing room as Falkirk equalised, and then James Vincent scored an even later winner.

“It was an emotional rollercoaster, I’m not going to lie,” the 34-year-old recalled.

“When I got back in the changing room, I burst into tears crying, my head was in my hands.

“I had to gather my thoughts and I started praying that we would hang on. They scored, and that set my tears off again.

“When Vinny scored, if there had been a camera in the changing rooms it would have been entertaining to watch, I went absolutely crazy. I was celebrating like we had already won it."
