Local rivalries are brought to the fore tomorrow in the Mowi Premiership with Caberfeidh and Lovat clashing at Strathpeffer, while in the first Badenoch derby of the new season Newtonmore entertain Kingussie.

With important early season league points, at stake the competition is expected to be particularly fierce.

Local derbies can also be found at Kilmallie where Lochaber are the visitors and in Argyll-shire where Kyles and Inveraray clash.

Last season Lovat enjoyed the local bragging rights with two league victories over the Sky Blues, but Lovat team boss Fraser Gallacher is on guard for a big reaction from Jodi Gorski’s side.

“We won 3-0 and 7-2 last year but that counts for very little in my book,” he said.

“Cabers are always dangerous – particularly at home – and we are expecting a tough battle tomorrow."
