ROBBIE Deas says the best is yet to come from him and he is grateful for the chance he has been given at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The 21-year-old, who arrived from Celtic in the summer on a three-year-deal, believes he has improved as a player since arriving at the Caledonian Stadium.

The centre-back has been a regular in the first-team this season and says as a result, feels he is becoming a better player, game by game.

But he believes he is still to reach his full potential in the Caley Thistle back line.

“I was in a place at Celtic where I wasn’t getting anywhere,” he said.

“I have come up here and I feel that I am getting better as the season goes on.

“But I still have a lot to give, I don’t feel that I have hit my best yet.

“However, it is just one of these things, I just need to settle down and get a bit of confidence and it will help me kick on.”

During his time at Celtic, Deas was sent on loan to Cowdenbeath and Alloa Athletic before making the permanent switch to the Highland capital.

Despite the pressures of moving to a new place during a pandemic, Deas says he is enjoying living in a new city.

“The club is fantastic and I could not have asked for anything else,” he said.

“They have looked after me and it is a family friendly club.

“I have moved away from my family and yet I feel right at home here.”

Deas also praised the impact interim manager Neil McCann has made on the team during his short time in charge, saying players are motivated to impress him.

“We all wish the gaffer (John Robertson) the best, but as a team we have to pick up and go again,” he said.

“It has been a difficult time for us, but having something new just now gives us something else to play for.

“We are out here to prove ourselves to him, as at the end of the day, he picks the team.”
