Scott Davidson scored twice as Nairn County defeated Keith 2–1 to record their third win in-a-row.

The striker, who arrived at Station Park in November, has scored five goals in his last three games as Nairn County stay three points behind Buckie Thistle in sixth place.

But it took Nairn until the stroke of half time to take the lead. Cohen Ramsay sent a pass through the heart of the Keith defence which allowed Davidson to run on to.

He kept his composure to fire a low drive past goalkeeper Greg Simpson to give them the lead at the break.

Davidson then doubled Nairn’s advantage on the hour mark when he was the first to reach Kenny Mackenzie’s cross from the right wing into the box and he fired into the net.

Keith pulled one back when Cammy Keith fired a low drive past Dylan Maclean. But the visitors couldn’t find an equaliser.

Manager Ronnie Sharp says it was a good win for his team against a Keith side who hadn’t lost since November.

“We hadn’t realised that Keith had been on a long undefeated run,” he said.

“We started strong then we got that vital goal at half time.

“Then we continued to be strong in the second half to make it 2-0. But we gave away a silly goal and then it got edgy towards the end.

“We had chances to make it more comfortable in the second half, but it was good to get the win.”

Sharp also praised Davidson for the contribution he has made to the team since he arrived at Station Park.

“He has been good so far for us,” said Sharp.

“His goals have definitely given the entire team a lift.

“We have been lacking a regular goalscorer for the last couple of seasons and hopefully he can continue scoring in the next few months.”

Davidson did pick up a knock in the victory, but the club are confident that he will be available for the trip to Fraserburgh on Saturday.

However, Sharp says he is less confident about defender Fraser Dingwall who also picked up a knock in the win against Keith.

After carrying an injury in the last few weeks, a fitness assessment will be carried out this week.
