Inverness golfer ends wait for Alliance fixture win

David Joel ended his two-year wait to become scratch winner of the North Scottish Alliance Fixture at Inverness Golf Club.
Joel last topped the leader board in October 2017 although the Inverness golfer has rarely been outwith the top five.
He won at Inverness with a card of two over par 71 (36/35) despite beginning his round with a three putt bogey five.
The dropped shot was made up with birdie on the third hole before his second birdie of the day on the 11th hole.
It was one of the few inward holes that played down wind eased the pain of his double bogey six on the 10th.
It enabled him get home in 35 and win by two from club mate Bruce Thomson (37/35).
Thomson was for a second week in a share of second place this time with Kevin Thomson (Moray) (35/37) and professionals Kyle Godsman (36/36) and David Grindell (37/35).
There is no fixture this weekend but fixtures will resume at Forres Golf Club on Saturday, November 9.
The host club provided all the winners in the low handicap section.
Willie Hutchison improved from the previous week’s third place at Boat of Garten to first place with nett 68.
Joint runners-up were club mates Andrew Hutchison and Neil McPhie nett 69s before the home trio of Ali Henry, Dougie Gordon and B Gray were all nett 70s. Paul Fallen (Nairn Dunbar) (10) led the next section with a 69 ahead by one from club mate James Story (12).
