PERTH curler Kyle Smith claimed victory at the Johnny Foxes Inverness Skins for the first time when his team came out on top at the Inverness Ice Centre.

Smith, along with his team of Blair Fraser, Jay McWilliam and Mark Munro came out on top on the ice as they won after three days of competition which took place last weekend.

A total of 20 teams from across the county took part in the only curling tournament of its kind which takes place in Scotland.

With a £5000 prize fund in the competition, each match was played as a Skins match with money on offer for each end that is played.

In the final, Smith’s rink defeated the team of Tom Pendreigh, Thomas Pendreigh, Frazer Shaw and Sean Murphy.

Committee member Brenda McIntyre says it was a successful event which was celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

They are now looking forward to hosting the event next year.

She said: “Although the scoreline suggested it was a one sided final, the truth was that in each end it was nip and tuck and some fabulous shots were played.

“The weekend was a great success with a high standard of curling and some brilliant shot making was made on ice.

“The committee would like to thank their title sponsor Johnny Foxes for their continued support, the Ice Centre staff, our session sponsors, and of course the competitors for travelling to our event.

“We look forward to our next one which will take place on Friday, November 7 to Sunday, November 9, 2025.”
