Clachnacuddin striker James Anderson sets new targets after passing 50-goal milestone for Inverness-based Highland League club

James Anderson said he was pleased to pass 50 goals for Clachnacuddin – and believes the club’s new-look forward line is starting to click.

The Lilywhites found a clinical streak in front of goal to win 5-1 against Lossiemouth last Saturday.

Anderson would score twice, as did Jack Mackay, with Troy Cooper claiming the other strike.

Both goals would help Anderson to the milestone, and he feels the understanding between himself, Lewis Mackenzie and recent arrival Andy Macrae is already developing well.

“It had been a wee while since I scored, so it was getting a bit frustrating,” Anderson told the club’s media channel after the victory.

“They weren’t the best goals, but I’ll take any goals that come.

“Now I’ve just got to keep going, and I want to try and get into double figures by Christmas and then the high-teens by the end of the season.

“I’ve been doing a bit extra, and having the game last week called off meant I could do more on the Saturday and Sunday.

“The front players all did really well - Lewis was good in the first half, and we can see what Andy is going to bring as well.

“It all clicked today, so I’m looking forward to seeing how we play in the future.”

On Wednesday night the Lilywhites return to action against Brora Rangers at Dudgeon Park, as Clach throw themselves fully into what will be a hectic schedule across December.

A derby against Nairn County at the weekend is followed by games against Inverurie Locos and Fraserburgh before the end of 2024, but Anderson says Clach will back themselves to get some positive results.

“It was good to get the win (against Lossiemouth),” Anderson added.

“We haven’t really been winning recently, so it was good to get it over the line.

“It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but we were clinical to score the goals, and that’s what we’ve been missing.

“It was good to get the result and get back to winning ways.

“They’re all going to be tough games, but we fancy ourselves.

“We’ve got good quality in the team, so we’ll just go and give it our best.”
