Clachnacuddin striker dream start scoring more goals than games played
ALLAN Macphee is determined to continue his blistering start to the Highland League campaign when Clachnacuddin face Nairn County on Wednesday night.
The striker has scored three goals in his first two games for the Lilywhites which has led to them recording maximum points so far.
Macphee (26) scored twice in the 2-0 win against Keith at Grant Street Park on Saturday as they have six points out of six so far.
After arriving from North Caledonian League outfit Loch Ness in the summer, he is determined to make his mark in the Highland League.
With an excellent start so far this campaign, he is looking to find the net against Nairn County in Merkinch on Wednesday night.
But he says Clach will be facing their toughest test of the campaign so far.
He said: “It has been good so far after a good pre-season and it is good to get off the mark early. Three goals in two games is not a bad start.
“I have had a target for myself this season of trying to get into double figures.
“Getting three goals already is a good start. Starting off with two wins, I want to try and build on that on Wednesday.”
Macphee returned to Highland League football this season after two years in the NCL with Loch Ness.
He has previous Highland League experience with Clachnacuddin and Forres Mechanics and determined to show what he can do at a higher level.
He said: “I was looking to get back into the Highland League this season, when Conor and Robbie Duncanson came in.
“I spoke to them about their ambition and it made me want to play for Clach. Even the standard in training there is a massive gulf compared to the NCL and it is better for myself playing with better players.
“We have yet to play the top teams, but in the Highland League there are no easy games against anyone.”
Macphee also says Clachnacuddin signing experienced players is making a difference to results, with them yet to concede so far.
He said: “With the signings that have come in there is a lot of optimism going into the first two games and getting the two wins. “The fans are getting behind us. It is all looking positive when you are 1-0 up and having the experience in the side to not concede goals and block off teams from scoring against us.
“Their experience has been unbelievable for us so far.”
