Clachnacuddin striker James Anderson signs new contract as Lilywhites tie down one of Highland League’s most prolific attackers

Clachnacuddin striker James Anderson has committed his future to the Lilywhites by signing a new contract to stay at the club.

The prolific forward has become something of a talisman for the Grant Street Park outfit, passing the 50-goal mark for the club this season.

James Anderson has put pen-to-paper on an extended contract with Clachnacuddin.

He broke into the first team picture in 2019, and would hit 26 goals in his first full campaign with Clach.

Anderson followed that up with a tally of 19, before a serious injury kept him out of action for the best part of a year.

However, he would not be stopped on his comeback, hitting 23 goals last season to once again see his name among the division’s top scorers.

Clach manager Conor Gethins told the club’s website: "Securing James is a massive bonus for us. I look at the league, and there are not many natural goalscorers in it anymore, but James is one of those guys.

“You cannot coach that into someone. You can only guide them to improve on movement, thinking, and positioning to improve their numbers.

“He only really kicked into gear in November last year and finished second top goalscorer, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do from the start of next season."
