McLeod: Clachnacuddin deserved Scottish Cup win against Nairn County

Sandy McLeod says Clachnacuddin got what they deserved as they recorded a shock 2-1 victory over Nairn County to progress to the second round of the Scottish Cup.

Goals from midfielder Blair Lawrie and defender Sean Webb were enough to seal victory with Liam Shewan’s injury time strike proving too late for Nairn to mount a fightback.

Their reward is a home tie against Brora Rangers at Grant Street Park on Saturday, October 19.

After a forcing a replay at Station Park seven days previously, McLeod says he was proud of his team that they made home advantage count to keep their Scottish Cup dream alive.

“They put in some shift and they got the reward that they deserved,” he said.

“We rode our luck in the first 20 minutes but once we got a goal against the run of play that settled us a lot.

“In the second half we played some nice stuff so it was pleasing to see.

“I always thought that we had a chance in the replay and that we could get something out of the game against them and thankfully that is what happened.”
