Starting chance for Caley Thistle Women's squad players against Westdyke

By Andrew Henderson

Inverness Caledonian Thistle Women’s manager Karen Mason has called for those on the fringe of the squad to step up to replace her injured stars.

Julia Scott and Katie Clelland are both carrying niggles, but could feature in Sunday’s Division One North match against Westdyke.

Janette Janatuien will definitely be missing from Mason’s defence though, as will striker Natalie Bodiam, after the pair picked up ankle injuries in last week’s 3-2 win over Kelty Hearts.

Janatuien has been a rock at the back for Caley Thistle this season, while Bodiam is a dangerous forward, so Mason is asking others to step up to the plate – and she thinks they are eager to impress.

“Janette is a big one, we lack players in defence and she has been a solid player for us,” Mason explained.

“It will be a massive miss if she isn’t there, but Nicola Ross is available so hopefully she will be able to step into Janette’s shoes this weekend.

“Any player who is normally starting is a big miss for us.

“There’s some people that are almost delighted to see Natalie not play, so that they can get a chance to prove their worth as well."
