Deeside athlete Robbie Simpson returns on Sunday to defend his Inverness Half Marathon title after a year which included a Commonwealth marathon bronze medal.
The 27-year-old set a course record and personal best of 64:27 at the 2018 event.
He used it as a springboard for his Commonwealth podium place but goes into Sunday’s race at the end of a winter punctuated by illness and injury, including a foot problem.
He hopes Inverness will become a preface to gaining marathon qualifying standard of 2 hours 13 minutes for the World Championships in Doha in next month’s London Marathon.
