THE top canoe polo clubs from across Scotland will be heading to Inverness to compete on the canal this weekend.

Highland Canoe Polo Club will be hosting the fifth Highland Quaich Tournamenetat Muirtown Locks at Telford Street on Saturday.

Clubs from Aberdeen and Glasgow will be taking part in the tournament and Highland chairman Cameron Bowles says it promises to be a top class day of action.

"Our event is proving to be a big hit now for those who enjoy the sport of Canoe Polo," he said.

“The National League’s competitions run through the winter months so our August event is held with fun in mind.

"This weekend we will have a mixture of players, of differing abilities, playing alongside top-flight players, which makes for a great experience for those taking part."

"The club's motto, if you think you’ve paddled, think again, is an open invite to anyone who has an interest in paddling to come along and watch and chat to members on the day.

" Canoe Polo is a fast paced contact sport, it’s action packed and matches last around 15 minutes making it great to watch."

Matches are being played between 10am and 2pm.
