Canal Park run-out is one-of-a-kind for Clachnacuddin, says chairman Chisholm

Clachnacuddin chairman Alex Chisholm says the team’s clash with Fort William at Canal Park tonight will be unique for the club and fans.

The Lilywhites have agreed a deal to make the home of Highland Rugby Club their temporary venue while repairs are being carried out to fire-hit Grant Street Park.

A blaze ripped through the kit room and dressing room at Canal Park on Christmas Eve with the ground not ready to host matches while damage is being repaired.

Chisholm says the club were keen to play their home matches in Inverness while repairs were being carried out at the Merkinch ground.

He says the temporary venue has gone down well with the fans.

“We are delighted to make use of the facilities at Highland Rugby Club,” he said.

“We had a look at the pitch and it is one of the best all-weather surfaces I’ve seen.”
