Inverness striker slams Bulgarian fans over racist chanting
Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker Nikolay Todorov has slammed fans who subjected English players to racist abuse during their Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian described scenes at the Stadion Vasil Levski in Sofia last night embarrassing when play was halted twice in the first half due to monkey chanting and Nazi salutes from individuals in the stands.
Fans were warned about their behaviour and that they risked having the game abandoned due to their actions.
On his twitter account, Todorov condemned the actions of the fans responsible and said they should not be allowed to ruin the image of his country.
He wrote: "Embarrassing what happened last night!
"It is 2019 and that's still happening.
"I'm proud Bulgarian and couple of individuals should not ruin the image of the whole nation.
"I hope those responsible get brought to justice."
The game was completed as England defeated Bulgaria 6–0.
