The Sun have reported the Edinburgh club are among the frontrunners to land the 20-year-old's signature, who still has one year on his contract left at the Caledonian Stadium.

It has been reported other clubs are interested in taking on MacKay next season too.

The Scotland under-19 international put in a string of sensational performances in the second half of the campaign for Inverness and scored nine goals.

He was part of the Challenge Cup winning side of 2018, famously setting up the goal for Carl Tremarco to score in the final minute of the 1–0 victory over Dumbarton.

MacKay was named Caley Thistle players and fans'

player of the year this season as well as landing the goal of the season award in the 3–1 victory over Ross County in the Scottish Cup third round.
