NIKOLAY Todorov says Caley Thistle must continue to be clinical in front of goal – something he believes was missing from their play in the first few weeks of the campaign.

The Bulgarian striker, who has scored in every Championship match this season, was pleased with how ruthless Inverness were in the second half of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Arbroath.

Before that game, however, Todorov maintains Inverness had been guilty of passing up chances in their first two league games, as well as both matches in the Betfred Cup.

But he says in the second half against Arbroath, Inverness showed the firepower they have in the team as they look to build on the win against Hearts on Saturday.

“As a team we have not been clinical enough,” he said.

“But we have been creating chances and we showed against Arbroath we can play young boys and still manage to score goals.

“We have been scoring goals and it is important to build that momentum.

“Let’s remember we were off for six months and that was hard, so to come back and show what we are capable of is good.

“But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, let’s keep the work going and build on that because we have ambitions and must keep level headed.”

Todorov scored against Dunfermline Athletic, Ayr United and Arbroath to help his team pick up four points in their first three league games.

Pleased with his 100 per cent goal-to-game ratio in the league so far, Todorov paid tribute to his team-mates for giving him the chances to finish off.

“I am really happy and that is down to the work of the team,” he said.

“I won’t score goals if the team is not playing well.

“To build confidence and momentum after such a big break is important.

“I am happy to get another goal and I hope that the run continues.”

Todorov scored the third goal in the 3–1 win against Arbroath.

Daniel MacKay and Scott Allardice also found the net in the second half after Kris Doolan put Arbroath in the lead in the first half.

Manager John Robertson says the game should have been abandoned due to the Caledonian Stadium being battered by 50mph gusts.

Todorov said the conditions on Saturday was the worst he has played in.

But with winter approaching, he said they have to prepare for all elements.

“I have never played in such bad weather,” he said.

“But it is getting to winter time so we need to get used to it and I’m proud of the boys as we fought to the end to get the win.”
