The attacker was stretchered off 10 minutes before the end of the second half in the victory over Arbroath at Gayfield on Friday night.

Sutherland's leg appeared to give way during the match and he was unable to walk off on his own.

His injury has not been confirmed, but head coach Billy Dodds says signs did not look good.

But he praised his players for coming out on top and dedicated the victory to Sutherland as well as Roddy MacGregor and Tom Walsh who are also out for the rest of the season.

"Shane’s injury looks a bad one," admitted Dodds.

Speaking about the victory he said, “I’m delighted we’ve done it for Roddy, Tom and Shane.

"It was an incredible win through all sorts of adversities.

“I have never come through a game like that. My players felt it – they felt hard done by.

“If you want to win a game and do it the hard way, you come to Arbroath in front of 5,000 and go down to eight men at one stage and still win.

"I don’t have any more words to describe my pride for them.”

The first leg takes place on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium at 7.45pm.

The second leg is on Monday, May 23 at McDiarmid Park in Perth at 7.45pm.
