Caley Thistle fans urged to stand up and be counted
DISCOUNT season tickets will be available at Caley Thistle for one extra week to benefit supporters who delayed buying them prior to the decision over Rangers future.
Top flight clubs overwhelmingly voted ‘no’ to Rangers newco being allowed to play in the Scottish Premier League on Wednesday and it is not yet know who will become the 12th club among the country’s elite.
SPL chairmen rejected the application from Rangers newco to replace the Glasgow giants, who are in the process of liquidation.
Several clubs, including Caley Thistle, had publicly stated they would say ‘no’ after listening to supporters.
“Now that the SPL decision has been taken and we have voted in accordance with clearly-expressed wishes of the vast majority of our sponsors, season ticket holders and supporters on the issue, it is time to move on,” said Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron.
“The ‘newco’ debate actually created a re-energised relationship between the club and our fans, so it’s important to build on that.”
Peter Murphy, chairman of Caley Thistle Supporters Trust, urged fans to take advantage of the generous gesture.
“The club has stood up to pressure and voted the way the supporters wanted — so now it’s time for us to stand up and be counted.
“We have to keep our side of the bargain. This is a challenging season for us and season ticket cash is crucial to be the club’s efforts to remain competitive at the top level.”
