Sunday night drew a close to Billy Dodds’s tenure as Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager after he was sacked by the club after just over two years at the helm.

The sacking followed Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park, the first time Caley Thistle have lost a game in 90 minutes against Raith for 23 years.

At the game on Saturday was chair of the ICT Supporters Travel Club Rosemary Webb who said that the announcement came as no surprise.

“Billy’s contract should never have been renewed, we had a poor showing in the league last season and the Scottish Cup Final just papered over the cracks”

Rosemary feels however that the discontent amongst fans runs deeper than the poor run of form which leaves them sitting bottom of the Scottish Championship.

“I would add that the sacking of Dodds and Wilson is just the tip of the iceberg.

“Fans are unhappy with the lack of communication from the hierarchy within the club, They feel disrespected and that their concerns are being blatantly ignored.

“There is no longer that feeling of togetherness there once was.”

With the hunt for a new manager on, Rosemary believes that it is key that the club ensure not to rush into the appointment of someone new, and wants experience at the helm.

“I would like to see someone with managerial experience appointed.

“Ryan Esson has been doing exceptionally well with the Under 18s so this may be a chance for him to step into Assistant Manager role.

“There’s no need to rush straight into making an appointment as Charlie Christie is a safe pair of hands to steer us along for a few weeks, by that time perhaps Barry Robson might be available.”

Despite continuing their winless league run on Saturday, Rosemary was happy with Caley Thistle’s performance and believes there is hope still for the season ahead.

“I thought the team played as well on Saturday as I have seen all season so far.

“I have confidence in the squad we have in place.

“We have a mix of experienced players such as Doran, Carson, Welsh, Ridgers and McKay, youngsters such as Bray, Hyde, Harper, Thompson, Shaw as well and MacGregor and Nicolson when fit.

“Also our new guys Gilmour, Boyes, Longstaff, Davidson, Anderson and Brooks seem to be fitting in well and showing promise, so I feel optimistic going forward.

“A new manager to change dressing room despondency and who knows?”
