VERSATILE Caley Thistle star David Proctor hopes he has put the worst of a recurring hamstring problem behind him.

The defender - who is also capable of playing in midfield - returned to action for the first time since the start of August in yesterday’s 4-3 North of Scotland Cup final victory at Forres Mechanics.

"To play the full 90 minutes was a bonus because the manager thought it would be great for me to play an hour so hopefully that’s me over the worst of it now," said the 27-year-old, who felt it set him in good stead ahead of this Saturday's trip to Dundee United.

"I’ve had this recurring hamstring problem and it is a case of managing it well, strengthening it and working on my flexibility and hopefully that will prevent it from happening again.

"Hopefully it won’t come to a point where I have to train or play differently because I don’t want to be having to think about it."
