Caley Thistle started their pre-season with a comfortable win over Clachnacuddin in the Inverness derby.

Manny Duku’s third minute penalty followed by goals in the second half from Aaron Doran, Tom Walsh, Ethan Cairns and Shane Sutherland was enough to secure victory at Grant Street Park.

Clach broke the deadlock after three minutes when midfielder Reece McAlear on loan from Norwich City was brought down in the box by Ally Gillies to concede a penalty.

Duku made no mistake from 12 yards to fire the ball past David Aitchison into the bottom left corner of the net.

Inverness could have doubled their advantage midway through the first half when Michael Gardyne linked up well with Duku with a one-two through the defence and the winger’s strike smacked against the post.

The Lilywhites responded when Liam Taylor connected with a cross from the right wing and was unchallenged in the box, but he fired his effort wide of the right post.

McAlear continued to dominate the midfield and sent a perfectly timed pass for Duku to run on to with only the goalkeeper to beat, but Aitchison did well to block.

Gillies had a great chance to level the game at the start of the second half with a free kick at the edge of the box.

His low drive curled around the defensive wall and forced a good save from Cammy Mackay.

But Inverness doubled their advantage six minutes into the second half when Doran fired a thunderous strike from the edge of the box straight into the net.

Minutes later, Walsh also scored an impressive effort from 18 yards out.

Inverness made it 4–0 12 minutes from time when Cairns latched on to a cross from left wing and fired into the net from close range.

Sutherland made it five three minutes later when he drove through the heart of the Clach defence and his shot went into the net off the left hand post.
