Caley Thistle Women had looked on course to pick up a valuable three points before losing 6-2 to Montrose in Championship North.
There was not much between the teams in the first half, and it took set pieces and a defensive error to separate them.
First Kayleigh Mackenzie bundled Natalie Bodiam’s corner over the line, before Eilidh Reid scored direct from a free kick to level the match up.
Hannah Gordon did give Inverness the lead one more time, coolly finishing when the ball found its way to her off a Montrose player, but that was as good as it got.
The visitors at Inverness Royal Academy upped their game dramatically, and scored five goals to blow ICT away – Aimee Ridgeway scoring a hat trick with Anna Grant and Flo Bruce getting the others.
Inverness have been left with three points from their opening three league matches and already find themselves nine behind leaders East Fife with Montrose and Dryburgh Athletic also boasting perfect records with a game fewer on the board.
