Reports surfaced last night that The Sons were on the bring of appointing officials to take over the running of the club, and the move has now been confirmed.

Business advisory firm Quantuma have taken control, with managing directors Ian Wright and Craig Morrison appointed joint-administrators.

In an official statement, Wright commented: “Craig Morrison and I were appointed joint administrators of Dumbarton FC on 18 November 2024.

“The directors of the club were left with no option other than to appoint administrators, following the non-receipt of significant funds that were owed to the club from the sale of development land in 2021.

“As administrators, we will be investigating the circumstances surrounding this transaction and other issues affecting the club, but will not be in a position to comment further at this time.

“Our immediate priority is to ensure the club can complete its fixtures and we will be meeting with key stakeholders to ensure this can be achieved.

“We understand this will be a shock to fans, staff and the local community.

“The club employs 18 playing staff, six football staff and three club staff whose roles are secure whilst we work through the early stages of assessing the options available to the club. We would invite any interested parties to come forward.”

In accordance with SPFL rules, with the confirmation of administration comes an immediate 15-point deduction to their season’s tally, meaning Dumbarton have dropped from sitting on 15 points to zero.

That also means they drop below Caley Thistle, who suffered their own 15-point penalty in October.

The Caley Jags declared administration on October 22 after it failed to find a buyer to take over the club with it reported having debts of around £3 million.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle played at Dumbarton in their first game since declaring administration last month when they lost 3-1 on October 26.

However, since then ICT have gone on an undefeated run of three matches picking up seven out of nine points.

It included a 1-1 draw against Kelty Hearts a 2-1 win in Aberdeen against Cove Rangers, and a 1-0 win against Alloa Athletic at the Caledonian Stadium on Saturday.

Caley Thistle now sit in the relegation play-off zone, 10 points behind Annan Athletic as they battle for League One safety.
