Nairn Golf Club lost out in the final of the Senior Northern Counties Cup to host club Brora.

Nairn’s line-up of Robert Smith, Peter Saggers, Pat Romisson and Walter Morris were the cup holders and saw off Moray in the semi final of the double foursomes competition by four holes.

For 17 holes of the final it was close, but when each pair halved the 18th it sealed a Brora win.

The Inverness team of Laurie Chancellor, John McCaulay, Willie Hutcheon and Eric Brown were soundly beaten in their first game by Royal Aberdeen.

Next year’s hosts Nairn Dunbar lost in round one, with Boat of Garten losing to Brora in the second.
