Jordan MacDonald has called Brora Rangers the best team Clachnacuddin have faced so far this season.

The Lilywhites fell 4–0 on home turf to the defending Highland League champions, who have had a turbulent start to the campaign by their own high standards.

It was a performance that MacDonald felt fell below Clach’s own level to this point in 2021/22, but he was keen to credit the Cattachs for taking full advantage rather than criticising his own side.

“Listen, they’re the best team we’ve faced this season by a long way,” MacDonald said.

“We did okay for the first 20 minutes, but as soon as the first goal went in Brora took over.

“We just sat off them, we weren’t aggressive on or off the ball, but Brora are the best team we’ve played this season by a long way.

“They really deserved to win the game, we didn’t play well.

“We kept giving the ball back to Brora – that’s a credit to them because they pressed us. We knew they were going to do that to us, but we didn’t show any character or composure.

“When you’re playing a team of that quality, sometimes that happens.”

Effort has never been in question at Grant Street Park.

It still was not the issue in MacDonald’s mind against Brora, who he says are still more than capable of winning the Highland League title again.

“The players have been outstanding, and don’t get me wrong, for the first 20 minutes on Saturday they did that, but I think once the first goal went in heads dropped to be honest,” he insisted.

“Don’t get me wrong, they still worked hard, but we have got the ball down against the top teams and played, and we just didn’t do that on Saturday.

“Again, that might be due to how well Brora pressed us and stopped us from doing it.

“At this moment in time they’re still the best team in the league, and if they carry on playing like that they won’t be too far off come the end of the season again, I can guarantee that.”
