HIGHLAND head coach Dave Carson says he is looking for his team to keep their National One promotion hopes alive with victory at Watsonian tomorrow.

The Inverness club will head to Edinburgh as favourites to win against a team who are second bottom of the division with only two wins to their name all season.

Highland are in fifth place in the table and only eight points behind league leaders Heriot’s with eight games remaining.

Tomorrow is Highland’s second of four consecutive games on the road, having achieved a bonus point 24–16 win over Dundee last week.

Carson will be looking for five points against Watsonian tomorrow before heading to fellow title contenders Melrose and Biggar in the following two matches which could make or break their season.

“We have a run of four away games and we have got five points out of the first one, so we need to concentrate on Watsonians this weekend,” said Carson.

“We are looking to get another four or five down there and keep chipping away.

“If we do that, we will be there or thereabouts.

“We will see where we are after Edinburgh and look on to probably the two tougher matches at Melrose and at Biggar.

“But we can’t look too far ahead, we will work hard this week and see what we can bring to the table to beat Watsonian.

“We were rusty on Saturday against Dundee after four or five weeks off.

“We did make things difficult for ourselves and could have had added a few more scores in the bag.

“But now the win is under our belts we can move on to better performances down the road.”

Despite Watsonian’s position in the table, Carson says their 35–19 victory over Cartha Queens Park last week means they can’t be underestimated.

“Maybe they have brought new guys in or have less injuries, but that was a good result for them,” he said.
