Bellfield Park serving up a treat for Inverness youngsters
Tennis is proving to be a smash hit at an Inverness club as the numbers playing the sport are on the rise.
Bellfield Park have 160 members playing tennis at their courts of which more than 50 per cent are junior players.
During Wimbledon fortnight and the summer holidays, the club are holding a series of events hoping more people will think the sport is ace.
Last Friday, the club held a Wimbledon fun session where 25 school pupils enjoyed playing games of tennis as well as strawberries and cream.
The club reformed nine months ago and secretary and tennis co-ordinator Lizzy Burke says its membership has grown significantly during that period.
“We reformed Bellfield Park Tennis Club in November,” she said.
“We are sitting at 160 members at our club. Around 80 to 90 of our tennis players are juniors.
“We used the courts previously but we have taken the step of forming a committee of parents.
“The number of people playing the sport is growing at our club. We are holding holiday camps during the summer and are also holding Tennis for Kids programmes."
