Beauly MacTavish Cup hopes are blown Skye high after defeat

BEAULY were knocked out of the MacTavish Cup quarter finals after they were thrashed 4–0 in Skye to suffer their first defeat of the season.

Jordan Murchison scored twice along with goals from Alasdair Macleod and Ross Gordon to send Skye into the last four of the competition.

Strathpeffer outfit Caberfeidh are also in the semi finals of the tournament after they won 3–0 at Fort William.

Colin Maclennan gave the Ross-shire outfit the lead after five minutes, with Craig Morrison and Kevin Bartlett both finding the net before the break to ease them into the last four.

Kingussie required extra time to see off Newtonmore 3–2 at The Eilan and progress.

James Falconer and Roddy Young put the visitors 2–0 up but Newtonmore fought back to level through Fraser Mackintosh and James Campbell. Savio Genini scored the winner in extra time.

The remaining quarter final between Lovat and Kilmallie was postponed due to Covid restrictions and will be rearranged for a new date.

Elsewhere last weekend, Glengarry moved top of North Division One with a 5–3 win over Lovat at Kiltarlity.

The Invergarry outfit raced into a 4–1 lead after half an hour with Raymond Robertson and Nick Dalgety both scoring twice. Kenneth Henderson scored in the second half for Glengarry with Raymond Rennie grabbing a hat trick for Lovat.

Inverness suffered a blow to their title aspirations as they lost 4–1 to Kinlochshiel at Bught Park.

Archie MacRae and Rory Slaughter both scored twice to put Kinlochshiel 4–0 up after 53 minutes.

Charlie Macdonald grabbed a consolation for Inverness. Skye reserves beat Caberfeidh reserves 4–0. In North Two, Strathglass reserves beat Lewis 4–0.
