The 15-year-old finished tenth in the overall championship and third in the Rookie Cup.

Stewart, who races for Hitech GP says he was pleased with his debut year.

As well as finishing third in the Rookie Cup, he was delighted to claim a place inside the top 10 of the competition.

“ I didn’t expect to finish inside of the top 10 in my Rookie season.

“We’ve had quite a bit of bad luck and reliability issues throughout the course of the year.

“But despite that we’ve had some amazing results and I’m happy with what we’ve achieved together.

“My engineers and mechanics have done a fantastic job.

“We’ve had a win, led quite a few races and a fastest lap, so I couldn’t ask for much more than that, especially with the limited testing we started with.

Despite the season being over, Stewart is now begin work over the winter months to make plans for next season, with the Scottish driver hoping to be back on the grid for 2023.

Stewart says he was pleased with how he performed in his final races.

He says claiming a podium place was a great way to end the season in what proved to be a challenging weekend.

“I knew going into qualifying that we would be nowhere near where we wanted,” he said.

“I had completed less than 30 laps around the Brands Hatch GP circuit.

“So for me to go out and get any good position was a big ask.”

Stewart added: “Ultimately, we got within 1.5 seconds of the top so I think we can take positives from that.

“It was a good way to end the season, getting back on the Rookie podium after a tougher weekend.”
