Beauly Angling Club declared season open

Beauly Angling Club officially declared the fishing season open last Saturday. Piper Niall Bolger lead the parade to the riverside where club chairwoman Wendy Harper gave a speech before pouring Glen Ord Singleton malt into the river.

Downie Beats fishing hut .About 20 odd members turned up to have young Niall Bolger Pipe us to the water side and our Chairwoman Wendy Harpe said a few words before pouring some Glen Ord Singleton Malt provided by the Ord Distillery onto the water to hopefully bring the Salmon in plenty of numbers up the river for this season .We then went to the hut and enjoyed the warm sausage rolls,Cluety cake and of course an odd dram of the Malt as Outside by the riverside Hamish Young caught a 1lb 8oz sea trout ,let us all hope we will catch and release many of these this season along with more of the Salmon than we caught last season

About 20 members took part in the ceremony before casting off for the first day of angling this season. Hamish Young had a successful day’s angling after catching a 1lb 8oz sea trout.
