All national shinty league and cup competitions have been cancelled due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Camanachd Association announced its decision to cancel the Premiership, National League and north and south regional leagues along with all competitions including the Camanachd Cup, Macaulay Cup and MacTavish Cup.
However, it hoped they can replace its current league format with localised competitions later this year to provide competitive opportunities and reduce travel.
Only one round of league matches were played before the league was suspended on Friday, March 13
Yesterday, the Camanachd Association board met to consider the implications of COVID-19 on the shinty season.
Camanachd Association President Keith Loades said examination of government guidelines dictates that only when phase four will there be a likelihood of lifting the restriction on social distancing.
He said they are still working to understand what that means for playing contact sports such as shinty.
He said: “This decision was taken to provide clarity for clubs but also to highlight our commitment to the protection and wellbeing of our community.
"We can only deliver competition when it is safe to do so and in line with what our clubs and officials are comfortable engaging with at that time.”
