DEREK Adams is continuing to target further additions to his Ross County squad, but is not anticipating any departures at this stage.

Goalkeeper Michael Fraser, defender Grant Munro, midfielders Russell Duncan and Rocco Quinn, and strikers Colin McMenamin, Sam Morrow and Kurtis Byrne have all arrived at the Dingwall club over the summer.

Seven new signings have taken County’s first-team squad to 22 players, but Adams has no plans to sell and instead believes the competition can only help their cause in the forthcoming First Division campaign.

“I’m delighted with the seven players that we’ve signed,” said the County manager. “However, I’m looking to still add to the squad if I can.

“If I feel there is a player available that I believe can improve the team then I’ll be in the market to bring them to Ross County.

“We have a very good squad and I don’t want anyone to leave, but I know that if a player is not playing when the season

starts then he may well look to move elsewhere.

“It’s up to the players to put themselves forward to get a place in the team and then stay there.

“With the new players coming in, it has only increased the level of competition within the squad and I think the signings we’ve made can only help to push the

guys we already have here on that extra bit.

“Everyone starts pre-season on equal terms, so we’ll see who comes to the fore.”

County returned to begin pre-season yesterday and Adams was happy with the fitness levels of his squad.

“I know they’ve all been working hard during the break,” he said. “A few of them have been working in groups and while their general fitness is good, there are always areas that we can work on, so we’ll do that with the aim to have everyone ready for the start of the season.”
