Conon Bridge girl named pupil of the year at Highland Heroes

The 11-year-old is a charity superstar and for the last two years has gone above and beyond to help others.
In 2020, Sophie Stewart donated 16 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, to be turned into a wig for youngsters with cancer or other conditions causing hair loss.
She also donated a whopping £840 to Macmillan nurses who cared for her late auntie.
Carrying on with the efforts, she completed a sponsored 100 lap swim last year which took her just over an hour, raising £2100 for the Highland Hospice.
Aside from her incredible charity challenges, Sophie tackled her own personal enemy last year – maths.
She went on to enter the Scottish Mathematical Challenge and came second!
She has also completed six Blue Peter Badges and is now aiming for a Gold one.
Sophie could not believe she had won the Highland Heroes award, but was thrilled to be chosen.
"I did not expect this and it's really amazing," she said.
"I will continue fundraising. I like it because it makes other people happy so it's just nice to see a smile on other people's faces."
Her parents were delighted to see Sophie's hard work recognised.
Mum Audrey Stewart said: "We are absolutely so proud of Sophie.
"Sophie really is one of a kind. She is the most caring, kind little girl and it's just amazing.
"We are so proud of what she has achieved and that she always thinks of others. All the children last night were truly inspiring. I feel so humbled."
