Ross County kids reach fundraising target for Irish Supercup after 350-mile cycle
YOUNG Ross County players have reached their target to fund a once-in-a-lifetime football festival trip to Northern Ireland this summer.
Ross County FC have entered their U13 Academy squad into the Supercup NI tournament taking place in Coleraine in Northern Ireland in July.
It gives youngsters a chance to compete with teams from around the world in one of the biggest youth tournaments and to explore the country in their downtime.
For months, parents and members of the local community have been digging deep to help pay for the trip, with a variety of fundraisers and events.
“We are delighted to say we have reached our target!” said Donna, one of the organisers. “We held all our events as scheduled, and now just have our main raffle to be drawn in June.
“Our ladies day fundraiser in Nairn was fabulous, arranged by mum Kayleigh Macleod. Golf day was a success in the sun, organised by Paul Mellon and Scott Lemmon. And the cow raffle was just an absolute hit with the public!”
On Saturday, the under 13s squad undertook their final fundraising event at the Tesco Inshes store in Inverness, by cycling over 350 miles — the journey length from Dingwall’s Victoria Park Stadium to Coleraine in Northern Ireland. To keep their spirits up, the squad had a visit from 1st team captain of Ross County, Connor Randall. The boys were delighted to have reached the finish line!
Donna continued: “All the parents and children are extremely grateful for everyone who who has participated and attended events — a massive thank you to you all.”
