Scotland’s biennial mountain bike conference, The Scottish MTB Gathering, has partnered with Highland creative economy support organisation, XpoNorth to deliver its 2020 event digitally for the first time on 25 November.

The event will be hosted using XpoNorth’s digital content app and will be opened by Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy and Tourism Fergus Ewing.

The technical partnership follows on from the huge success of XpoNorth’s digital reimagining of Scotland’s leading creative industries conference which saw the XpoNorth team transition their full conference online, designing and delivering a packed two-day programme of interactive content.

The highly ambitious digital edition was packaged and produced through XpoNorth’s customised app, attracting leading participants from across the international marketplace and achieving a record number of attendees.

Graeme McLean, head of developing mountain biking in Scotland, the organisation behind The Scottish MTB Gathering 2020, said: “ We would like to say a huge thank you to the teams at XpoNorth and Highlands and Islands Enterprise for their support in bringing this important event in the mountain bike calendar together.

"Recognising that mountain biking and the creative arts are a good match which help develop the economy across the Highlands.

"This unique collaboration which has been eye-opening, informative and creative has meant that we have been able to push forward and deliver this event to the mountain bike community in these difficult and challenging times.

"We are looking forward to producing this new era of conferencing in safe technological hands.”

Iain Hamilton, Head of Creative Industries, Highland and Islands Enterprise and co-founder of XpoNorth, said: “The MTB Gathering is an important fixture in the mountain biking calendar and we are delighted to be able to use our specialist expertise and app innovation to allow it to happen digitally.

"During this challenging year it is more important than ever that we collaborate to create opportunities for communities to come together to share experiences and discuss the future of their sectors and I’m looking forward to another successful event in November.”

The full programme for The Scottish MTB Gathering 2020 will be released soon and those who would like to attend can register for the event here .
