WORK has resumed on a £5.5 million care home on the Black Isle – and it is now due to open in October.

Construction on Parkland Care Homes' had been put on hold during the Covid-19 lockdown.

But, despite a delay of several months caused by the coronavirus shut down's impact on the supply chain, the roof is now complete.

And work to fit out the building is expected to begin soon.
Parkland says that construction teams will follow strict social distancing guidelines and hygiene protocols as they work to complete the project.

Once finished, the care home will offer 40 en-suite bedrooms and create 50 full time equivalent jobs.

Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands Care Homes, said: "We are delighted to be back on site and resuming construction.

"We had intended to open the new care home this month but the Covid-19 shutdown affected the industry supply chain and we now anticipate an autumn opening.

"We have had keen interest from local people interested in working at the care home and we are looking forward to moving into Fortrose."
