Works on Nairn Gasworks site are set to begin next week, according to SGN
Works on the former Nairn Gasworks site are set to start next week — with “odour, dust, noise and vibration” to be expected.
SGN will be carrying out improvement works on the site off Harbour Street, near Seaman’s Hall to “minimise possible future impacts to groundwater and adjacent residents” from buried structures.
Contractors will be on site from Monday, September 22 until November 28 before returning for around two weeks in early January.
Works will be carried out between 8am and 6pm Mondays to Fridays, and on Saturdays between 8am and 2pm if required.
A letter shared by SGN reads: “We have liaised with Highland Council regarding these works.
“All such works have the potential to generate odour, dust, noise and vibration; however these issues will be proactively monitored and managed by our specialist contractors, ERS.
“Throughout the works, ongoing monitoring will take place and where necessary mitigation measures will be employed.
“We will work proactively to minimise the impact our work may have on our neighbours.”
It added that anyone impacted who would like to discuss the project further is welcome to get in touch with the customer service team on 0800 912 1700 or via email at customer@sgn.co.uk.to arrange a meeting.
Anyone smelling gas during the works should call 0800 111 999.
