A woman suffered a terrifying ordeal of violence and abuse by her partner who dragged her out of bed, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

Robert Kerr (48), of Balblair Terrace, Nairn was appearing for sentence before Sheriff Sara Matheson having previously pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards his partner or ex partner in his house on September 25, last year.

Kerr admitted stamping around the house, throwing various items around, shouting at her, entering her bedroom and pulling the covers off her, shouting at her to get up and repeatedly shouting and swearing at her.

Sheriff Matheson placed Kerr under a year's social work supervision during which he may have to take alcohol treatment.
