The mother who was going to collect her child in the Kinmylies area ran off in a panic to a nearby house and banged on the door for help.

She was also begging for assistance from a friend to whom she was phoning.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the pal drove round to pick up the distraught woman and they both took photographs of the car and its driver, 40-year-old Urim Morina of Ealing Road, Brentford.

The incident, described by Sheriff Neil Wilson as "worrying", happened on August 19, 2021 but took so long to come to court as Morina moved to England a short time later.

Fiscal depute Shamilah Ghafar told the court that Morina was arrested when he returned to Inverness.

Morina admitted behaving in a threatening manner and had sentence deferred until November 22 for a background report.

Defending, Natalie Paterson reserved her mitigation until then but told Sheriff Wilson: "It was a case of mistaken identity."

The sheriff commented: "I am not sure that is mitigation."
