Police were called to a disturbance after receiving a 999 call but could only hear a man shouting and swearing at a woman, telling her to get out of his house.

Mark Mackay, of Balnain Street, Inverness, had previously admitted at Inverness Sheriff Court behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards his then partner at their home in the early hours of July 3, 2024.

The 51 year old represented himself when he appeared for sentence before Sheriff Gary Aitken following the preparation of a background report.

Fiscal depute Sophie Marshall told the court: "When officers arrived at the property they could hear the accused shouting: 'If I get arrested I will f...ing kill you. The woman allowed the officers into the property and they said she was shaking like a leaf.

"He was arrested and he swore at her again and told her to get out of his house."

Mackay declined to say anything to the court.

He was fined £680 and had a one year long non harassment order imposed to protect his former partner.
