Wetherspoons encounter led to Aberdeen man sexually assaulting woman in Inverness home
A brief encounter in an Inverness public house led to a woman being sexually assaulted in her own home.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the woman invited 25-year-old Kyle Miller, of Great Northern Road, Aberdeen and others to go back to her Inverness flat to help her decorate it after meeting them in Wetherspoons on October 26, 2023.
Fiscal depute Sophie Marshall told temporary Sheriff Principal Eilidh Macdonald that Miller began drinking and "she noticed a change in his behaviour”.
"He grabbed her from behind and tried to pull her back towards him,” she said.
"She told him to let go but he ran his hands up and down the inside and outside of her thighs and her bottom. He then seized her wrists. He was told to leave by others in the flat."
Ms Marshall added that the woman was so traumatised by the incident that she had to take time off her college course and sought professional counselling.
Defending, David Patterson said that Miller was due to be sentenced on another non-analogous matter on June 26 and asked the sheriff to defer sentence until that date.
The sheriff agreed but called for a background report and an assessment for a sex offender's programme and then placed Miller, who admitted the sexual assault, on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
