Inverness woman celebrates new lifestyle after losing five stones in three years
An Inverness woman says losing weight has changed her life.
Lorraine Jack (46) gained weight after being diagnosed with scleroderma and lung disease and had to use crutches to walk, so in January 2017 she joined a local Slimming World group and changed her lifestyle to improve her health.
She said: "It was after seeing a Christmas pictures that I realised how much weight I had put on and I realised I had to do something about it.
"I had to go often to the hospitals for exams and checks but I hadn't realised that my lungs were functioning badly also because of my body weight and nobody told me that I would have been better if I had lost weight.
"When I joined Slimming World in January 2017, I was very nervous when I went in using crutches, but felt welcomed by everyone.
"Once food optimising was explained and the realisation that I could still enjoy food, eat out and socialise by making good choices, clever swaps and meal planning for the week."
Ms Jack is now at her target weight and has gone from a size 22 to a 12.
She said her lungs have improved as well as they are not anymore under pressure from the tummy fat, and no longer has to use crutches as a support.
She added:"Slimming World has transformed my life in such a positive way, I couldn't believe how much healthy food I could eat and still lose weight. Food optimising is very easy, once I got the hang of it. I feel fitter and healthier and will always be a Slimming World member."
Meg Gillies, who runs the local Slimming World group, said she was really proud of Ms Jack achievements on her weight loss.
More information is available on the company's website slimmingworld.co.uk, with the local group meeting on Friday mornings.
