Woman (61) due in court after cocaine worth around £50k seized by police in Inverness

A 61-year-old woman is expected to appear in court today after police seized a quantity of cocaine with a street value of around £50,000 from a car in Inverness.

Officers stopped the car on a city section of the A82 yesterday morning.

The woman has been charged in connection with the recovery of the drug.

A force spokesman said: "Police Scotland is committed to tackling the supply of controlled drugs to the Highlands and Islands and pro-actively targeting those individuals intent on causing harm to our local communities.

"This enforcement relies on the support of the public to help officers take action to disrupt the drug trade.

"Anyone with concerns or information about drugs is urged to contact Police Scotland at any time on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
